Value of Small Things

The message of Zechariah is still true today that instead of despising and becoming discouraged with the small and the ordinary, why not rejoice! God is working in and through small things for His everlasting glory and eternal joy. Never underestimate the day of small beginnings for little is much when God is in it.

Focus Scripture:

“For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice…” Zechariah 4:10

It seemed like such a small thing for a weary young couple to experience the birth of a child in Bethlehem, but the powerful reality reveals that King Jesus was born in a small stable, in a small manger. Amidst the stench and filthiness of animals, something of great significance took place. A Savior was born!  The Angel proclaimed it in this manner, “Fear not. For behold I bring ye good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”  Luke 2:10

Small things add up for they are ordained by a very big God. The fact is that those little moments or actions may be the very things God uses to show a hurting world His incredible power. It doesn’t take a big name or reputation to change the world; instead it takes a big God.

So let us all rejoice as the shepherds did while returning back to their work and responsibilities. “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them”. Luke 2:20
