Crowns Mentioned in Heaven

Scripture reveals to us that certain crowns will be awarded to those who faithfully follow and serve God. Five specific crowns are mentioned in the Bible – the crown of rejoicing (1 Thessalonians 2:19), an imperishable crown (1 Corinthians 9:24-27), the crown of glory (1 Peter 5:2-4), the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6-8), and the crown of life (James 1:12). What a heavenly hope we have to understand that when God brings us out of darkness into His marvelous light, it truly is a miracle of salvation. To understand that there are heavenly rewards and crowns for those who will “diligently seek Him” is such a powerful promise to us all.

Focus Scripture:

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him. For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

We have all received trophies and awards over the years for sports, competitions, and business accomplishments; but the fact is that they tend to end up in a dusty corner of the basement, or eventually stored out of sight and forgotten in a cardboard box. What a feeling to be crowned as the winner and champion of what we strive diligently to succeed in within our lifetime; but let us remember that the reality is that the crowning achievements of this temporary life fade away and eventually become worthless as time passes by.

What a hope we have that someday, as we stand in reverence and honor before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we will cast our crowns before Him. What a moment that will be to witness the grandiose splendor and supremacy of our Savior. There will be no earthly possessions or treasures that will be of any value compared to the reward and gift of eternal life. In a world filled with many trials and tribulations, let us never forget His eternal promises. What a blessing it is to daily strive for an incorruptible, glorious, righteous, crown of life that we can rejoice about in the sweet by and by.
