The Morning Voice of Prayer
Most of us have heard the “early morning recommendations” many times from well- meaning family and friends. It may have sounded this way “You need to start your day off right with a big breakfast. Or you need to start with an hour of exercise.“ Others may have said “It’s most important to simply find a quiet moment with a cup of coffee and a good book.” The reality is that everyone has an opinion on how best to start the day and the early morning priorities that will set a good tone for the rest of your day.
Focus Scripture:
“Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God. For unto you will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” Psalm 5:3,4
Prayer moves the hand that moves the world. E.M. Bounds
I love the words of the Psalmist in regards to his early morning discipline of prayer. “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning.” It was a daily habit, a spiritual discipline that was reflected in this statement. He was intentional in his morning devotion to his King. There was a promise unto his God that his voice would be heard in prayer, and that he would daily look up to his Creator in faith.>
There are so many distractions that can pull us away from what really matters in the morning. However, being daily shut in with God in a secret place is still the answer to finding the power and peace we all need. Make the commitment to the Lord that He will hear your voice in prayer first thing in the morning time. It is a rewarding appointment with the One who loves and cares so much for His children. “I exhort therefore that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.“ I Timothy 2:1
